ABOUT

Platform Art Projects commissions artists to create new digital projects on our website that showcases their work, practice and ideas. This is an experimental platform to support artists to use an online 'space' to create new ‘site-specific’ online projects.  Artists are asked to think of the webpage as a blank exhibition space to create an installation or exhibition; the walls are the specificity of the website. The work does not need to be finished, this could be a place to experiment with ideas, create proposals, storyboards, research, conversations, or to present the thinking behind the making.

Platform Art Projects was Initiated in May 2020 in response to the Covid-19 lockdown by curator/photographer Chelsey Browne, curator Chantelle May Purcell and artist Terry Smith, with support from Strangelove Time-Based Media Festival and Venice Agendas.

Partners: Strangelove Time-Based Media Festival is a nomadic project and unique festival bridging the gap between time-based genres. From art videos, experimental film and conventional cinema, to sound and performance works. Venice Agendas has featured at every Venice Biennial since 1999, brings together artists, cultural professionals and audiences through discussions, workshops, performances and symposiums looking at all areas of contemporary culture and politics. Print Editions Gallery is a new initiative designed to support artists practice through sales of work launching later this year.
